The making of Smash 'Em is from our London Bridge Studios recording sessions for our second album Redd.

Big Seattle sound or Happy Grunge? Maybe both…The musicians in Gruvland grew up in various music scenes, from Seattle to Belfast, N.Ireland. The three-piece was born from bonding over a passion for the melodic and the heavy. After some time playing together, a leap of faith was made to lay down a track at the iconic London Bridge Studio in Seattle, which eventually led to their first album, the self titled, Gruvland. In February 2025, the band reunited with their producer/engineer, Jonathan Plum, at the same studio, to create their second album, Redd. Each member brings a unique musical aesthetic to the band, and over the years, they’ve grown comfortable jumping genres and mashing up influences. Gruvland band members are Tommy Shinn (Guitar/Vocals/Songwriter), Dave Scattergood (Drums), and Lou McSheffrey (Bass). Albums, Gruvland (2023) and Redd (2025).

Having recorded dozens of times over the years at various locations in the Seattle area, we did a session at LBS in 2021 and were blown away. Some of the finest bands in the area have done albums here, and it was an absolutely amazing experience.

The drum room at LBS is legendary for its unique sound and feel. Just listening to different bands that have recorded there one hears the magic of the room instantly. Having a master engineer and producer like Jonathan Plum doesn't hurt either!
He managed to find the sound we were after, and even enhanced it beyond our expectations resulting in something we could all be really proud of.

We are currently gearing up to play some live gigs and look forward to sharing our love and passion for music with you all,
cheers ,
GRUVLAND
